​​Rich Smith, MS, LAMFT
Rich graduated from Auburn University with a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1997. From 1996 to 2000, he provided individual, group, and family therapy in an acute care/ crisis stabilization inpatient psychiatric facility.
Over the course of the past 15 years, he has served as a provider and clinical supervisor on two military installations with oversight for those affected by combat, suicide, family abuse, neglect, accidents, and violent crime. Rich's clinical focus is trauma resolution.
He is the only certified provider for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in Yuma. EMDR is a trauma therapy with endorsements from multiple mental health organizations including the American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association, and many, many others.
Because Rich is an Approved Consultant with the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), he can provide all of the consultation necessary for EMDR certification. In addition, Rich is a lead trainer for EMDR via the Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Center and School located at Fort Sam in Houston, Tx. In that capacity, he provides EMDR Basic Training to military clinicians on multiple installations annually.

Most recently, he was the co-author of The Effectiveness of Evidence-Based Treatments in Treatment of Active Military Personnel and Their Families, in the Journal of EMDR Practice and Research (Nov. 2015).
